Chairman of Directors Welcome
Welcome to Hadrian Academy.
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I extend a warm welcome to you. My name is Angela Leishman and I have 14 years’ experience in the field of education and a steadfast commitment to fostering excellence. As a school we are fortunate at Hadrian Academy, to have an exceptionally committed staff consisting of leaders, teachers and support staff, as a guiding force in our school. I have been on the governing body since November 2018, seen 2 children go through the school and have remained to share my expertise. Our professional teaching and non-teaching support staff work together to provide an excellent standard of education for all our pupils.
As Chair of Governors, it is my responsibility to ensure we bring a wealth of knowledge, insight, and dedication to the role. Our governing body have an extensive knowledge and experience in primary education, finance, HR, SEN, business and much more, coupled with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that lie within our school's environment, which contribute to our continuous growth and success. All our Governors serve a four-year term, on a rotation basis, which can be renewed for a further four-year term and often is.
As Trustees of the Academy, we are accountable for the overall performance of our Academy, though the day-to-day management is led by the Principal. We work with him to see that the overall aims and ethos of the Academy are met. Our responsibilities include appointing the Principal and senior staff, overseeing the school’s finances, curriculum, premises and all personnel matters. We monitor to ensure the curriculum is balanced, whilst setting targets for pupil attainments. Pupil Premium is provided to ensure all children requiring additional help receive that help in all aspects of the curriculum and outside school activities and clubs. We employ specialists to audit many of these processes, to ensure they are being implemented correctly in accordance to DfE requirements.
At Hadrian Academy we have a passion for education, combined with their exceptional leadership skills, which play a pivotal role in shaping our school's strategic vision and ensuring that every pupil receives the best possible education. Their collaborative approach and open communication style will foster strong partnerships with our staff, parents, and the wider community, creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all. We encourage all pupils to work to their highest capabilities, whilst recognising that some of these need extra support within a school ethos which has a safe, caring environment.
Our ongoing Curriculum Development is across every aspect of learning, either in the classroom, playground or in whole school events such as the choir and school assemblies. You can look at our school website to see all the many and varied activities which take place at Hadrian on a daily basis.
We were rated “Good” at our last OFSTED inspection. We know that when the inspectors came and visit us again, our expectations are high for another excellent report.
We are confident that our school will continue to flourish and thrive. Their guidance and expertise will empower us to build upon our achievements, maintain high standards, and embrace innovative approaches to education that prepare our students for a bright future.
As Chairman of the Governors, I am very happy to meet with you to discuss any aspects of Hadrian Academy. I can be contacted through the Clerk to the Governing Body, Joanna Loisel, at the school, or by email at angelal.governor@hadrianacademy.co.uk.
Yours sincerely
Angela Leishman,
Chairman of Hadrian Academy
